In 1988, Tanya graduated from Lakeside High School (GA) in the top 10% of her class. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. She also obtained an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Business College. Upon her death, she was working on her Master's Degree in Education from Anderson University which she was awarded after death. Tanya was a mother of three and a dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc Sorority. She had very strong ties with many community projects and outreach programs such as Dream Girls, Every Single Mother Deserve a Second Chance as well as volunteer work with Faith in Service Humanity (FISH). Community service was a huge part of her commitment to give back to others as well as her community.
The Tanya Andrea Burdette Scholarship began in August 2015. With the help of members of her family and friends they were able to launch the Non Profit Organization and gain their 501 c 3 status. In 2016, the first three scholarships were given to recipients that were chosen out of several participants who sent in an applications along with essays. The motto “A Legacy for Passion, Excellence and Success” is a true representation of Tanya Andrea Burdette. Eligibility Criteria for the scholarship are now awarded to · High School Seniors transitioning to college with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5. They must have at least 50 hours of “active” community services. The Scholarship Application must be Complete and submitted by the first week in March of each year.
The TAB Scholarship Foundation is a Non Profit Organization that is committed to the growth and development of high school students pursuing a college degree. We feel it is important to aid and develop talented young Americans in pursuit of higher education. Through gifts provided by donations and fundraising, The Tab Scholarship Foundation is able to provide scholarships to deserving students on an equal opportunity basis regardless of race, sex, creed or religious preference. The TAB scholarship is available to high school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited, post- secondary intuition beginning in the fall of the following year. Applicants must meet all of the eligibility requirements and deadlines to qualify. Scholarship awards range from $150.00 - $500.00 and should be applied towards tuition, room, board, and books. Checks will be mailed and made payable to the recipient.
